On Tuesday, March 7, 2017 six eBay sellers took a trip to Albany to speak with Senators and Assemblymembers about proposed provisions in the NY Budget.
Meeting with NY State Assemblymember Peter Abbate
The NY State Budget now under consideration has a proposed provision regarding sales tax on internet purchases shipping into NY State. This change could set a precedent that other states may follow. This provision would require NY-based internet marketplaces to collect and remit sales tax on behalf of its sellers, regardless of whether or not the seller has a physical presence in the state of NY. (for example – eBay has NY offices so they would have to collect NY sales tax for orders coming in to NY state. ) More money for NY but headaches and higher fees for all of us who sell on online marketplaces..
Thanks to Laura Dooley and Emily Shuttleworth from the eBay Government Relations team for arranging the trip and appointments with:
Senator Simcha Felder
Assemblymember Peter Abbate

Assemblymember Ken Zabrowski

Classic Vintage Styles Reimagined
At Hey Viv ! we are always searching for classic pieces that will compliment your wardrobe, don’t go out of style, and have people asking “Where did you get that ! ?”
We love silhouettes like a simple pencil dress, a cinch belt that shows off your curvy shape, pearls, or a pillbox hat worn with panache. As Diana Vreeland said: “You gotta have style. It helps you get down the stairs. It helps you get up in the morning. It’s a way of life.”
“Vintage Charm for the Modern Gal”
One of my favorite things to do is go through a box of jewelry – it feels a bit like Christmas. I often buy jewelry lots so I don’t always know what to expect when I open a box. It may be a tangled heap of beads, charms, and pins, so I have all the fun of sorting. It helps to divide everything into categories like necklaces, earrings, bracelets, etc. That way when I am ready to take pictures I can concentrate on one style at a time. Some days I am in a necklace mood so I look for all the pendants I have. Other days I want to see sparkle so it is rhinestone time. This makes it easier with the photo studio setup too.
There’s one big drawback that I still haven’t conquered after all these years… I want to keep it all ! So… maybe one piece goes to me and the rest goes before the camera ready for the close up picture and ready to list.
